Ok - the actual name of these is Young Women Celebration cookies. They are the best EVER sugar cookies.... We make them for every holiday and in between!
1 Cup Butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp soda
4 tsp baking powder
4 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
Cream together butter and sugar/ Add eggs and beat well. Add sour cream and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Roll on floured surface to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutter, place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and sprinkle with sprinkles, nutmeg and sugar, or leave "blank" for this frosting. Bake at 350 for 14-17 minutes or till lightly browned. Cookies will be large, soft, and thick! (if using a smaller cookie cutter cook only 7-8 minutes)
Note: shortening can be used instead of butter (but in my opinion they are just not as delish....)
